Cor Cwm Ni is a mixed, Welsh speaking choir based in the heart of the Rhymney Valley. Enjoying a reputation for delivering professional performances throughout the area and further afield, the choir has picked up a number of awards along the way for its performances.
Established in 2003, the 30 strong choir performs a variety of modern and traditional songs mostly through the medium of Welsh and all its members either live or work in the Rhymney Valley.
Under the direction of Carys Crimmings, the Welsh, mixed choir places a strong emphasis on having fun while singing and has combined this with delivering successful performances on a competitive level. The choir won at the Rhymney Valley Eisteddfod in 2008 and 2007 and also at the National Eisteddfod in Newport in 2004.

The choir maintains a busy schedule of performances throughout the year which includes formal concerts, charity and community events and family occasions such as weddings. The choir is also frequently invited to perform at organised occasions which includes the Tesco stage at the Wales Millennium Centre and in 2009 the popular Big Cheese event in Caerphilly.
2009 also saw a significant milestone being reached by Cor Cwm Ni as it embarked on its first overseas trip. This was a a trip to the town of Lannion and Plouberze in Brittany which is twinned with Caerphilly and Llanbradach respectively where the choir entertained their Celtic cousins in the region. The choir hopes this will be the first of many future overseas trips.
Cor Cwm Ni enjoys an active social scene which provides an additional opportunity to socialise in the Rhymney Valley through the medium of Welsh. The age range of the choir is also quite wide – with the youngest member being 18 while the oldest is almost old enough to receive a free bus pass!
The choir is always keen to welcome new members so if you are a soprano, alto, tenor or base and interested in joining us then please Contact Us
Cor Cwm Ni also welcomes Welsh learners to join as rehearsals, performances and social events offer an ideal opportunity to practice Welsh.
